Family FAQ

You asked:

My teenager is interested in volunteering this summer. Are there web sites that publish information about volunteer positions?

The Online Family answers:

Two of the best volunteer sites are Volunteer Match and Idea List, which allow you to search for positions based on a variety of factors including your cause of interest, and where you live. Also, check out America's Promise, a national organization that helps kids get involved in their local community service. In addition, most of your local nonprofits will likely have a web site that lists their specific volunteer opportunities.

Tech Tip

Add Memory

If your two- to three-year-old computer is sluggish, instead of getting a new model, you might just need to add more memory. You can do this yourself -- see your computer maker's web site for instructions about where to install additional memory once you purchase it.
